5 Week Beginner Throwing Course - Monday Nights (Starts: 2nd February 2026)

$480.00

Course Details & What to Expect

When: Monday Nights

Next Course Starts: 2nd February 2026

Always wanted to learn the pottery wheel but not sure where to begin? This five-week course is a supportive, hands-on introduction to wheel throwing, designed for complete beginners or those wanting to build confidence at the wheel.

This is a semi-private course, limited to a small group of just 2 to 3 participants. Keeping the group small allows for individual guidance, personalised support, and plenty of time at the wheel. My teaching approach is calm, patient, and encouraging, offering full attention as you build both skill and confidence.

You do not need any prior pottery experience, just a willingness to show up, get your hands muddy, and learn through doing.

Over the five weeks, you will be guided through the foundational skills of wheel throwing, starting with the very basics. Together, we will explore how to prepare and knead clay, centre it on the wheel, open forms, and pull walls to create simple, functional bowls. You will also learn how to trim your pieces once they are leather hard, refining and finishing your work.

Classes are intentionally paced, allowing time to practice, make mistakes, and develop a feel for the clay. Clay has a way of teaching patience, presence, and acceptance, and the wheel can feel challenging at first. Throughout the course, you will be supported to work at your own pace, with gentle guidance and encouragement to embrace the learning process rather than aiming for perfection.

Pottery is as much about how it feels as what you make. My hope is that this course offers you time to slow down, reconnect with your hands, and experience the quiet satisfaction of creating something from the ground up.
